Universal Credit the hot topic for Tewkesbury residents

Universal credit - what it is, how it will affect you, who to ask for support - was the hot topic at Priors Park Neighbourhood Project (PPNP) today.

Richard Partinton discusses Universal Credit with Tewkesbury residents Our universal credit specialist Richard Partington, together with Sarah Boden from Tewkesbury Job Centre, led an informal chat, taking questions from local residents and explaining the new system of benefit payments.

Did you know, for example, that Universal Credit is paid monthly? And that it comes directly in to your bank account? And that advance payments are available to get through the delays of a first application - which will be at least 5 weeks with zero payments - for 100% of your entitlement?

Facts, tips and helpful advice were shared, with project manager Ruth Ward publicising the job club, IT skills training and advice from GreenSquare and Citizens Advice that are all on offer in the Jubilee II building on York Road, Priors Park, Tewkesbury.
