In a search for the next generation of Severn Vale Housing staff, we recently attended a careers fair at Tewkesbury School.
Seven Vale staff spent the morning meeting 16 and 17 year olds and talking to them about what sort of jobs they were interested in. Accountancy, building trades, architecture and becoming a landlord proved to be the most popular career choices.
Severn Vale trainee HR assistant Ella Ramdehal said: "As part of the day we held some interactive sessions with 15 year olds who spoke to us about what they wanted to do when they were older. During these sessions we explained about what Severn Vale Housing do and what sort of career opportunities exist within the organisation. Students were surprised that we did an awful lot more than build homes.
"During this interactive session we set up a 'weird interview questions' box and asked students to pull them out. This got them really thinking about the different answers they could give. We hope to organise a familiarisation visit to our offices next term".
Some of the weird questions included 'If you could be an animal what would you be?' and 'If you had 1,000 emails how would you decide which ones to open first?'.
