DIY SOS

Tradespeople standing with a DIY SOS Van Tradespeople from Severn Vale Housing Society joined Nick Knowles and his team to help transform a property in Avening, Gloucestershire this month.

The DIY SOS team were in Avening to make adaptations to the home of Ben Wernham, who was paralysed in a swimming pool accident in Cyprus last year.

Nick Knowles appealed for local tradespeople to come along and help out. Severn Vale Housing sent along electrician Micah Rose and apprentice plumber Aaron Rogers.

Micah and Aaron spent three days working on the project and they were there for the Big Reveal on the last day, where the team show the family the transformation they have made to their home.

Micah Rose said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant. The team were really easy to get on with and we’ve had a fantastic time. It’s great that we were able to help make a difference to Ben’s life and that he will now be able to go home for the first time since last year. To be there for the Big Reveal was the icing on the cake. I’m very grateful to Severn Vale for letting us come along and support this worthwhile project”.
