Seventy year old David Lawrence will take part in Brave the Shave, a Macmillan Cancer Support initiative, on Monday August 15th.
David will have his head shaved at Atherton Close, the Severn Vale Housing retirement scheme where he lives.
Residents at Atherton Close have been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support since the beginning of the year. They have raised over £1,000 already by holding coffee mornings and barbecues.
David, who worked as an aircraft technician until he retired, hopes to raise £200.
He said: “I did want to get involved in Brave the Shave last year, but I didn’t manage to register in time so I got in nice and early this year. I’ve never done anything like this before but it’s for a good cause, so I hope I meet my fundraising target”.
A spokesman for Brave the Shave said: “We know that cancer can turn the world upside down and that’s especially true when it comes to appearance. People with cancer go through hair loss and changes to their appearance that can affect everything from the way they look to how they feel.
“All the money raised will mean we can support people who are facing a difficult time so they can start to feel more in control”.
