Kitchens

As part of our planned maintenance schedule we will replace customers’ kitchens every 20 years. If you are due an upgrade soon, we’ll be in touch to let you know which contractor will carry out the work. We’ll also arrange for a kitchen designer to come and discuss a kitchen layout design with you too. In the meantime, you may find the following information useful.

Things you need to know

Kitchen design
When you are due an upgrade you will be contacted by a kitchen designer who will visit you to design the kitchen and discuss choices of units, worktops and handles with you. You will be left with a 3D plan of the new kitchen. Please note the layout may need to change to meet current regulations and that the kitchen designer is not the contractor who will fit the kitchen so will not be able to discuss dates, etc.

Installation
The installation of the kitchen should take no longer than three days, but plastering and wall tiling may prolong this work.

What work will be done?
The existing units, worktops and tiles will be removed and new units fitted as per the new design. Three rows of white tiles will be fitted between the worktops and wall units. An extractor fan will also be fitted or renewed.

You will be left with washing facilities and water (i.e. the sink unit) at all times, although there may be a day when there is no cooking facility.

Disruption to your home
We will endeavour to keep the disruption to a minimum but there will be restricted access to your home while the work is being carried out. There will be some noise and workmen will need to be in and out of your home many times.

We will treat your home with courtesy and respect. Dust sheets will be used and the contractor will clean up any mess. All equipment will be packed away at the end of each day.

As a matter of security please do not let any workperson working on behalf of Bromford into your home without requesting to see their identification.

Things you need to do before the work starts
Please remove all items from cupboards, all electrical appliances (such as kettle, toaster, microwave) and furnishings/accessories should be stored away from the kitchen while the work is being carried out. Washing machines will be disconnected and reconnected as part of the work. Please ensure that all pets are kept in a room which is not affected by these works.

If you have your own existing floor covering that you wish to keep, please lift it before the work starts as we cannot be responsible for any damage. However if you prefer, we can supply and fit new flooring on completion of the work. You will be given a selected choice of three vinyl sheet floor coverings to choose from. Please note this is a once only offer, Bromford will not be responsible for repair or replacement of the chosen flooring once it has been fitted.
