Central heating

As part of our planned maintenance schedule we will upgrade the gas central heating in Bromford properties (boilers every 15 years, radiators and associated pipework every 30 years).

If you are due an upgrade soon, we’ll be in touch to let you know which contractor will carry out the work. In the meantime, you may find the following information useful.

Things you need to know

If the gas central heating boiler in your home is due for replacement; we will fit a more efficient one. The work involved will consist of the removal of the existing boiler or night storage heaters, hot water cylinder and tanks in the loft (where applicable). We will install a new modern energy efficient condensing boiler to an external wall where possible.

Installation
The work will take approximately one day to complete. If radiators need replacing as well it will take 2- 3 days in total plus it may be necessary to carry out some remedial work on the third day if necessary.

What work will be done?
New thermostatic valves will be fitted to radiators. This will enable you to control the temperature in each room or new radiators and pipework will be fitted depending on the condition of the old radiators and pipes.

You will receive new heating and hot water controls as part of the installation. You will be shown how to adjust the controls yourself if you wish to change the settings in the future.

Disruption to your home
We will endeavour to keep the disruption to a minimum but there will be restricted access to your home while the work is being carried out. There will be some noise and workmen will need to be in and out of your home many times.

We will treat your home with courtesy and respect. Dust sheets will be used and the contractor will clean up any mess. All equipment will be packed away at the end of each day.

As a matter of security please do not let any workperson working on behalf of Bromford into your home without requesting to see their identification.

Things you need to do before the work starts
Where radiators and pipework need replacing the contractor will need access to every room. Before the work starts you will receive a visit from the contractor who will explain the process of the works and offer you an appointment for the installation.

Please remove all items from the area around the boiler. Ensure access is available to all rooms and loft space where radiators and pipes are being renewed. Move furniture as directed by the contractor.

You should lift existing floor coverings as discussed with the contractor as we cannot be responsible for any damage. Please note that this includes laminate flooring. If floor coverings are not lifted when the contractor arrives they will lift & replace them but are not responsible for any damage.

Please ensure that all pets are kept in a room which is not affected by these works.
