Choice Based Lettings Scheme - Gloucestershire Homeseeker

You may know that the Government has set a target for all Local Authorities within the whole of England to be covered by Choice Based Lettings Schemes by 2010.

Gloucestershire Homeseeker Partnership has therefore been set up comprising of all six District Authorities in Gloucestershire (Tewkesbury Borough Council, Gloucester City Council, Stroud District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Cotswold District Council and Forest of Dean District Council), with the intention of setting up a single lettings scheme to cover the County. This scheme has now been running since September 2009.

This will enable Severn Vale Housing Society to advertise our homes and you will be able to “bid” for a vacant property. As a social housing provider Severn Vale Housing Society has been involved in the consultation of this scheme and was a member of a working group looking at the processess involved. Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords can now operate under one lettings scheme, subject to individual nomination agreements.

Severn Vale Housing will continue to run a points based waiting list alongside this scheme and so you will be more than welcome to apply to us. However, 75% of Severn Vale vacancies will continue to go to the Local Authority and therefore to the new choice based lettings scheme, which you will be able to access via the internet or by approaching your Local Authority.
