Severn Vale Housing Society came into existence on the 27th April 1998 and quickly established a reputation as a fair and considerate provider of social housing. Initially, over 3000 homes were transferred to Severn Vale's ownership and an extensive programme of refurbishment and improvement was put into place. Plans were also made for the development of 214 new homes by the year 2004. The Society is non profit making and is regulated by the Housing Corporation, a government body. At present, the Society provides housing to over 2900 tenants throughout the borough of Tewkesbury. Severn Vale Housing Society is committed to being involved in local community initiatives. It was the first housing society within this area to join with Gloucestershire Education via the Information, Advice and Guidance Partnership, a scheme that provides education and training advice to tenants. In this way, the Society aims to provide a real link for its customers to many community issues. By aspiring to be more than just a social landlord, Severn Vale Housing Society aims to become "The best landlord anyone could wish for." |
