Important Information (11/12/2007) PDF Print E-mail

In November 2007 there was an incident in one of our properties resulting in the tragic death of the tenant. There is a possibility that the explosion may have been caused by a redundant coal fired back boiler housed at the back of the fireplace which may have exploded following a coal fire being lit in the grate.

Following the incident we wrote to most of our customers, leaseholders and individuals that have purchased properties from Severn Vale. The letter asked for people to call us if they currently have an open fire in their home and there is a back boiler in place. If people were unsure they were also asked to call us.

Following this letter we received a number of telephone calls and have visited a number of properties to check the back boilers. To ensure we have covered all of our customers we are now ringing those customers who have not responded to our letter to confirm their arrangements. Therefore if you receive a call from us do not be alarmed it is just to clarify the situation with regards to your home.

If you are unsure about your own situation or have any further questions then please call us on 0800 783615 to check what you need to do.
