Letter sent on 27th July 2007 to all affected Severn Vale Customers
Firstly, please accept my sympathy that your property was flooded during the recent exceptional rainfall. At Severn Vale we have been working hard to contact customers who have been affected and we now know that 91 homes were flooded. I have enclosed a general advice leaflet with this letter (please click on Customer Information Leaflet in the Flood Advice section to view this document), which we originally produced last week, but it still may help with some of your immediate problems. As you can see, it is important in the first instance that all carpets & floor coverings are removed from your home. It is your responsibility to do this, but for elderly & vulnerable customers who do not have relatives or friends close by, we are offering a “helping hand” service. If you think you might qualify for this, please contact us. The next step for us is to survey all of the 91 homes to see exactly what work is needed in each. We hope to have completed these surveys by the middle of next week. If you are out when our people call, they will leave a card for you to contact them and make a more convenient appointment. Until these surveys are complete, we will not be in a position to tell you when work will start or what has to be done. In the meantime, if your contact details change, please let us know. I will keep you informed as we progress and would ask for your continued patience whilst we continue to gather information and liaise with our insurance company. Yours sincerely H. R.
