How we set rents

Severn Vale rents are set in accordance with Government legislation. The Government introduced “Target Rents” with the aim of harmonising rents throughout the country by 2011/2012. Target Rents are set by taking account of local pay levels and property values.

How improving our houses may affect future rent

If we modernise the property you live in it may increase in value. This may, in turn, mean that your Rent will increase in line with its new value.

Service Charges

Service charges are usually made when people share communal services for example in blocks of flats or retirement accommodation. We set service charges by taking the following factors into account:

• the full cost of the service provided
• the value for money the service offers
• the cost of maintaining and replacing equipment used in the supply of services and the cost of providing new services
• our customer views on the services that we provide
