It is specially designed accommodation, mainly for older people, which is available for rent. There are thirteen sheltered housing schemes around the Borough, a total of over 400 units of secure, affordable housing. There are variations between the retirement housing schemes, but mostly they provide the following features:

  • Self contained flats with their own bathrooms and fitted kitchens

Communal facilities such as:

  • Laundry Rooms
  • Communal lounge for a variety of social activities
  • Gardens
  • Guest Rooms
  • Security and safety features
  • A Residential Scheme Manager 24 hr emergency assistance through connection of each flat to a call centre

What do our Scheme Managers do? PDF Print E-mail

Each of our Retirement Housing offerings has it's own Scheme Manager. They are responsible for:

  • Help newcomers to settle in and explain how everything works
  • Make regular contact with each resident as required
  • Assist with emergencies
  • Encourage social activities and independent living
  • Liaise with residents, families and agencies to assist with independent living
