New Build HomeBuy is designed to offer affordable housing by allowing people to part own and part rent a property. So, for example, you may purchase a share in a property (usually 50% but this varies on each development) and rent the remaining share from the Landlord. You can purchase additional shares in the property, this is called staircasing. This would reduce the amount of rent accordingly. This gives you the chance that in time you will own your own home outright. You can of course remain with your initial share as there is no obligation to staircase.

Severn Vale Housing provides the Helpline Community Alarm Service to people of all ages in the Tewkesbury Borough and Cotswold Areas.

Helpline is a way of getting help through your telephone system quickly and efficiently 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. It consists of a small personal radio transmitter called a pendant that can be worn around the neck, clipped to clothing or worn on a wrist strap.

Right to Buy or Right to Acquire your Home

Many Severn Vale homes are eligible to be purchased by their occupants.

You may have the Right to Buy your home if you were a tenant of Tewkesbury Borough Council before transfer to Severn Vale in 1998. This is known as a Preserved Right to Buy. Alternatively you may have the Right to Acquire your property if you have been a Severn Vale tenant for more than two years and your home is eligible for purchase.

Severn Vale has created a register where our tenants can advertise their property for a potential move.
